An executive at Uber suggested that the company doxx journalists who write bad reviews about it. The company has access to data about where people are travelling to and from and if they’re coming or going somewhere they oughtn’t, release of that information could be very damaging. This got me thinking about how much power social networks would have to silence their critics. I don’t know whether that’s something that’s likely to happen, but if it did, the fallout could be devastating. The muck they could rake up could highly personal and they’d know exactly who to spill the beans to.
